Electronics Recycling

Electronic Recycling Solutions

The Town does not collect electronics during the Fall Pick-up nor on Earth Day. Likewise, OCRRA cannot accept electronics. However a state law requires manufacturers to take back unwanted electronics from households, schools and small businesses year-round. Items covered under the law include:

  • Televisions (as well as TV set cathode ray tubes)
  • Computers
  • Computer Peripherals* (Monitors, Keyboards, Mice or Similar Pointing Devices, Facsimile Machines, Document Scanners, Printers)
  • Small Electronic Equipment* (tablets, VCRs, Digital Video Recorders, Portable Digital Music Players, DVD Players, Digital Converter Boxes, Cable or Satellite Receivers, Electronic or Video Game Consoles, etc.)
  • Small Scale Servers
  • Computer peripherals and small electronic equipment also include any cable, cord or wiring permanently affixed to or incorporated into such product.

RECYCLING OPTIONS FOR HOUSEHOLDS

You may contact the manufacturer of your electronics directly to learn about their take-back program. Another option is to consult the Electronics TakeBack Coalition's list of manufacturer recycling programs or utilize Sunnking Electronics' take-back program.

If you have electronics, in good working condition, an alternate disposal option is to offer them for free to the local community for reuse.
